1940 Vintage New York World's Fair Railroads on Parade

This auction is for a wonderful booklet that has been well preserved since the 1940 World's Fair in New York.

The booklet is 12.75 inches by 9.75 inches and has 16 pages. The front and back cover are in color and the inner pages are in black and white.

The booklet is entitled "Book of the Pageant" - Railroads on Parade - an Edward Hungerford Production. It was presented at the World's Fair to do full tribute to the American Railroad. Their are numerous pictures and drawings inside the booklet about various engines and a very interesting history of the American railroads. There is also a section that describes the "Historic Locomotives in "The Yard" which stood immediately adjoining the exhibit.

Also covered in the booklet are Railroads on Parade, Railroads in Action and Building the Railroad.

Included in the auction, and an insert in the booklet is a "Bill of Play" which shows the Players in the Piece, the various acts and the personalities of the author, producer, composer and other key players in the drama. The play was an Edward Hugerford production with music by Kurt Weil and Staged by Charles Alan. The sponsorship came from the Eastern Railroad Presidents Conference and some 26 major railroads.

If you are either a World' Fair collector or a railroad affectionado, you will certainly understand and recognize the value of these two items... which are being sold as one.
